Step out of your comfort zone and into yoga

Do something every day that scares you

~ Eleanor Roosefelt

Can you remember the last time you felt the exhilaration of achieving something you thought was beyond your limits?

The one that comes to mind for me is getting my scuba diving licence back in 2012. I’m a terrible swimmer, I hate open water and I haven’t been diving since - it makes me question why I did it in the first place but I am still so proud that I conquered the fear to do something I never thought I would be able to do.

Now I’m not saying you should all go out now and invest in a scuba mask, but new opportunities and potential for achievement are there for the taking every day.

The problem is that we all have the list of reasons, the ones that keep us well within our comfort zone.

I hear them all the time from people just like you…

  • I'M TOO OLD TO TRY SOMETHING NEW

  • I'M NOT GOOD ENOUGH

  • I WON'T FIT IN

  • I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME / SPACE / MONEY

Your comfort zone is what feels familiar, safe and controlled. It’s a boundary of behaviours, habits and beliefs created by you that tells you what you can do.

But what if you can do SO MUCH MORE that your mind thinks?

Outside your comfort zone is where you find out what you’re capable of. It’s where you test your limits, discover your potential and find growth.

Yoga teaches us to break past the self limiting beliefs, overcome fears and embrace challenges. One of the first hurdles to overcome is realising you are in your comfort zone in the first place!

  • Are you scared of trying a particular posture?

  • Does the thought of starting yoga fill you with fear?

  • Are you worried what other people will think of you?

If it's a resounding YES, then the choice is yours...

Do you stay well within your comfort zone feeling overwhelmed wondering what could have been?

OR

Face the fear and risk becoming STRONGER, CALMER and MORE CONFIDENT by trying something new?

I know what I'd rather do! Now it’s your turn...

Comment below if you're ready to step outside your comfort zone and into yoga.

Until next time,

Emily x
